Two residents??? What were we thinking???

Life with two resident parents and an energetic, lovable girl can be crazy at times. This morning was a great example of that...

I was on call in the NICU and had to round this morning. Brian was on call today and was hoping that I would get home in time so that he could go to the hospital as soon as I got back home so that we could do a switcharoo and avoid having to take little Mia to a babysitter for a couple of hours in the morning. I was happily rounding and Brian was happily at home with Mia and then he paged me saying that he was getting called in because the rest of his team was waiting for him to round so he was rushing to get Mia ready to drop her off at the babysitter. I was bummed out and then as I was getting off the phone with Brian and I got back to my rounding...then, a little while later, Brian calls me to tell me that he started day dreaming on his way in and was almost to the hospital and FORGOT to drop Mia off! He would have to drive another 20 minutes back to the babysitter and then 30 minutes back to the hospital! And everyone was waiting for him. Then, our lucky break...a nurse practitioner I work with was so nice and because the attending was going to be in after my hours were up, she had me check out to her and I was able to go to Brian's hospital where I found Brian and Mia sitting in the car in the parking lot watching Blue's Clues together on Brian's computer (who would have ever thought that Brian would have Blue's Clues on his computer!) So at the end of the stress and craziness, it was so sweet to see those two enjoying themselves and to see what a great dad Brian is even though our lives are crazy and busy and exhausting. He really deserves a great Father's Day tomorrow!Mia and her daddy on mine and Brian's 5th anniversary!Mia loves her pony that Heather gave her!
Mia discovers dip...her new favorite. In fact, the last couple of times, she's skipped the thing to be dipped and just scoops the dip with her fingers. Her favorite dips? Ranch and guacamole!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MIA!

We got back on Sunday from Utah for Mia's birthday celebration. We had a wonderful time and are so very grateful to all our friends and family for making her day so special. We started out the week with Brian heading down to Cedar City to spend time with the Andersons and Zions park with Andrew and Kent for a nice Memorial Day Hike. He took some beautiful pictures down there. I stayed up in the SL area to scavenge the Memorial Day sales and shopped until I dropped! It does seem that you drop a lot quicker once you take a kid with you! But I luckily had my parents to help me out, and my little girl LOVES shopping. Her new thing is carrying purses around and trying on everyone's shoes...she's all girl! Brian, Mia and I then spent some relaxing days with Brian's parents and my parents. Mia's birthday party was on Saturday and we had so much fun with our parents and grandparents, siblings and cousins, aunts and uncles. I just can't believe how much I love my little girl! She gets more and more fun every day and I can't hug her and kiss her enough. How time flies by!

Yesterday we had a Cowboy/Cowgirl party for her here with her friend Dallin. Thanks to Holli and Matt for putting together such a cute party! Mia loved playing on the playground but finished the night out by falling on the cement and tearing her upper gums (so glad it wasn't her teeth) and we had to leave then since she was bleeding everywhere, poor thing! Now she has a swollen upper lip. What a way to start out her second year!

So here are some photos from our trip...I just LOVE my little Fairy Princess!
She was also teething in Utah so the poor thing had her fingers in her mouth all the time!

Eating a piece of her delicious coconut lime cake...she loved it!Eating some yummy Brazilian food!Swimming with Daddy at my uncle's house with cousins! (and giving Daddy a kiss...she likes the big open mouth kisses!)
Playing in the fountain outside the restaurant where we went to celebrate my parents' and Mia's birthdays (all in May!)
